Electronic Arts (EA) held a VIP bash to preview the new NBA Live 16 game to insiders, tastemakers, celebrities and influencers. The party was held in the exclusive Terminal 23, Jordan Brand's massive white-walled basketball gym/event space that is exactly like those secret NYC spots you hear about.

My friends and I got there early and found Russell Westbrook, the NBA Live 16 cover athlete, busy playing the game on the giant screens that were set up for people to demo the game's latest Pro-Am feature, graphics and gameplay.

Pro-Am mode is the best place to play bball online with friends featuring 2 ways to play: co-op play in 'Summer Circuit' and online team play in 'LIVE Run'. The mode also allows gamers to play on real courts and different arenas.

Also making appearances at the party were other athletes, celebs and several NY/NJ-bred rappers like Jim Jones, Maino, Treach from Naughty by Nature!

Me and Jim Jones...who was on one of those PhunkeeDuck scooters all night! I'm not that short!

My attempt at a free throw which I totally missed!

The event was super stylin', like everyone just came from Fashion Week. I felt underdressed as I thought we would be shooting hoops with Westbrook (he did not shoot any hoops with anyone except in the videogame) but otherwise very chill and friendly.

Attendees got to sip on NBA inspired drinks and nibble on hors d'oeurves while demo-ing the game, trying your luck at shooting hoops on the court for an advanced copy of the game (which everyone received whether you made the shot or not!), take pics at the NBA Live 16 photobooth and check out dope custom kicks designed by street artist Mache (my sneakerhead friends would love these!)

Throughout the evening, DJ Mick kept the music flowing and at the end of the night, attendees got a special performance by legendary rapper Jadakiss!

I can't say I'm a huge gamer or bball player but according to my friends who have played previous NBA Live games and its rival NBA 2K15, the big things they noticed were the improved graphics and easier ability to run plays in the game. NBA Live 16 also has a new face-scanning app you can download and be playing within 5-10 minutes.

NBA Live 16's demo is available September 15th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game is set to hit multiple platforms on September 29th.

The free demo gives fans their first chance to check out the brand new LIVE Pro-Am mode, featuring both the competitive LIVE Run and cooperative Summer Circuit. Those looking for an offline experience can also choose one of six NBA teams and take the floor in an exhibition game, or get a head-start on learning the nuances of the game in the Learn LIVE tutorials.

For added dose of customization, players can also download the official NBA LIVE 16 Companion App (available on the App Store and Google Play) featuring GameFaceHD. This exclusive mobile scanning tech allows fans to quickly and easily scan their face and upload it to their in-game character for use in LIVE Pro-Am. The app provides clear feedback at every step of the process, a preview of how a face looks when it is finished and the ability to customize the final scan before uploading it. The scanning process takes seconds, and the entire procedure, from scanning to uploading to receiving the finished product typically takes around five minutes.

Those who download the demo will be able to progress and customize their in-game character by playing LIVE Pro-Am and transfer their progress to the full game when it launches on September 29. All unlocked skills, upgrades, shoes, gear and more will make the transition, so this is the perfect opportunity to get a two-week jump on the competition and be ready to own the court on launch day. This is also an ideal time to put together an online squad and prepare to rise together when the game launches and the competition heats up.

EA Access members can also play the full retail version of NBA LIVE 16 before it’s released for a limited time starting September 24, only on Xbox One.

NBA LIVE 16 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and will be available on Sept. 29 for $59.99.
