Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok Review: An Action & Humor Combo #ThorRagnarok

I attended an early screening of Marvel's latest entry into the MCU - THOR: RAGNAROK in IMAX 3D and boy was it a lot of fun to watch! This slaphappy movie is probably the campiest Marvel movie with so many laugh out loud moments, it almost overshadows the actual storyline!

I was invited as media to this screening. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

The first two THOR movies were somber and dark, but this 3rd entry has taken a 180 turn and lightened up both the scenery and mood. Even all the actors look like they're having a blast hamming it up on the screen. The irreverent humor and non-stop wacky one-liners will keep the audience laughing at the theaters.

Still, the movie is action packed and moves at a steady pace. There's a few cameo surprises that will have moviegoers cracking up. I really enjoyed the supporting cast who ended up stealing scenes from Thor – Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, the hard-drinking, self-centered warrior, Jeff Goldblum, who's basically playing his quirky self as Grandmaster, and Korg (voiced by director Taika Waititi) the fellow gladiator with the delicate voice and definite comic relief.

And of course, as it true for Marvel movies (so far), you definitely need to stay for the two extra scenes before and after the end credits.

In Marvel Studios’ THOR: RAGNAROK, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela.

But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Directed by Taika Waititi
