The cast of the movie - Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Leslie Mann and Alison Brie came along with several other celebrities including Dakota's parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith! Everyone got to enjoy super cute fancy candies from Sugarfina.

Being a single girl in the city, I initially scoffed at this movie, figuring it was going to be a typical rom-com with over the top antics from Rebel Wilson that I would end up rolling my eyes at. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how many laugh out loud moments there were that didn't always involve Rebel.

The story and its characters are sort of a lite version of Sex and the City/Girls with a lot less nudity. Four women living in NYC- fresh faced Alice (Dakota) moving to the city to find herself after getting out of a long term relationship, her older sister Meg (Leslie), a mature and successful doctor who starts feeling her biological clock ticking, the logical Lucy (Alison) who is determined to use an analytical strategy to find her perfect mate online, and lastly Robin (Rebel), the carefree, wild party girl who is living like there's no tomorrow.

Different guys come in and out of all their lives as the movie spans over several years which makes the storylines feel more realistic, and the men they meet aren't all one dimensional/stereotypical and have stories of their own.

I enjoyed that aspect of the movie and think it will draw men into the movie too. Rebel's character Robin is very much the comic relief of the movie but it wasn't overkill with her character. My favorite storyline was Leslie's character Meg and the adorable younger man she meets.

Overall, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie and was laughing along with the audience in the theater. With it's Valentine weekend release, it's pretty clear they are aiming to be the alternative movie for single women, but I think anyone that wants a feel good, laugh out loud escapism from the daily grind, this is your movie.
