Illamasqua Makeup "I'mPerfection" Spring 2013 Collection

By 8:16 PM ,

Do you ever get bored with cosmetics? Doing the same thing with the same shades of blush, eyeshadow, nail polish, etc.? To the rescue is Illamasqua, one of the few beauty brands that is creating something fresh and different and interesting enough for me to want to go out of my comfort zone and play with my makeup to create new looks.

Illamasqua Makeup I'mPerfection Spring 2013 Collection

I recently attended a preview of Illamasqua’s Spring 2013 Collection called “I’mPerfection”, a play on the word “imperfection”.  Inspired by the beautiful, irregular markings on fragile bird eggs, the collection includes five new speckled nail polishes: Freckle (brown), Fragile (blue), Mottle (green), Scarce (pink) and Speckle (purple). The result is a collection of a gorgeous range of pastel and neutral shades that are the ultimate nail breakthrough art for the Spring.

"Speckled" was the hot word for the evening and the theme was carried through to the eyes with a demonstration by David Horne, a celebrity makeup artist/designer specializing in directional make-up and director of new product development at Illamasqua, who used Pointilism-like dots of Illamasqua’s Precision Ink eyeliner to create a black & white dotted winged look that reminds you of a bird’s feather. The accented look was also created using a flesh-tone liner which looks great on darker skin.

I was also introduced to a completely different way of applying blush with Illamasqua’s new Blush Up Brush. The ellipse-shaped head of the Blush Up Brush is made for applying blush in an upward stroking motion from underneath the cheekbone, in other words, 'push and spash up' instead of the typical 'above the cheekbone or on the apple of the cheek'.

After watching the pros apply it to a willing blogger, I couldn't wait to try this on myself at home! They also have a full range of highly pigmented Powder Blushers to play with to define those cheekbones in wide variety of colors. If you love experimenting with makeup, layering, accenting and mix n' matching colors to create new shades and self express yourself, this is the cosmetic line for you!

The Speckled Nail Varnished retail for $16, the Blush Up Brush $40 and Powder Blushers $26. You can find the Illamasqua collection exclusively at Sephora and sephora.com as well as Sephora at JCPenney. The Freckle color is exclusively available at JCPenney.
